In the case of off-the-plan purchases where the term of the contract is likely to be years rather than months, it is generally not an attractive option for investors as it requires them to tie up their funds by paying deposits in full. This fact has been recognised by a few developers/vendors who will now pay interest on the deposit monies till settlement.

However, most investors do not have the $25,000 – $60,000 dollars to pay the deposit and will need to consider one of the other options.
